A body was located, in the early hours of this Thursday (14), through scanning, in a container declared empty in the Port of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo.
The ship that transported the container arrived in Santos last Sunday (10), coming from the Port of Tangier, in Morocco.
Upon identifying that there was something similar to a body, the port terminal notified customs inspection, which subsequently called the Federal Police (PF) and the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa).
Authorities determined that the compartment had been opened and found that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition.
The PF carried out a detailed examination and began an investigation to investigate the facts.
To combat smuggling and embezzlement, scanning empty containers upon import is an obligation imposed on customs bodies by Federal Revenue regulations.
