The body of a second Israeli hostage was found near Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza city this Friday (17), the Israeli army said.
According to the statement, the body of 19-year-old Noa Marciano – a corporal in the Israel Defense Forces – has already been transferred to Israeli territory.
The army located the victim days after Hamas said Marciano was killed in an Israeli airstrike.
On Thursday (16), Israel said it found the body of Yehudit Weiss, a 65-year-old Israeli woman located near Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza. A Defense Forces spokesman said Weiss was killed by Hamas, but gave no details about the cause of death.
Weiss was a resident of kibbutz Be’Eri and was kidnapped by Hamas militants during the October 7 attack. Her husband, Shmuel, died during the radical group’s action.
It is not known whether the bodies of the two women were found together. The circumstances of the deaths have not yet been released.
Operation at Al-Shifa hospital
Al-Shifa hospital, the largest medical facility in the Gaza Strip, has become the epicenter of fighting since Israeli forces launched an operation on Wednesday (15).
The Israeli army released a video, this Thursday (16), of a supposed “tunnel”, which would be used by Hamas as a command center, inside the hospital complex.
The radical group denied Israel’s accusations and called the allegations “baseless lies.” CNN cannot independently verify these claims.
