Bolsonaro announces call for 1,250 approved in PF and PRF contests

President Jair Bolsonaro announced, this Tuesday (3), the summoning of another 625 approved in the last contest for the Federal Police (PF), and another 625 for the Federal Highway Police (PRF).

“That’s what you could do with PLN 1”, he told supporters in the “pencil” of Palácio da Alvorada. Bolsonaro referred to the National Bill passed by the National Congress at the end of April.

The number of those summoned is higher than what the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Anderson Torres, had said was possible. This Monday (2), the Chief Executive called Torres in front of supporters who were in the Alvorada playpen. In the conversation, the president asked for an increase of 1,000 seats for each force. In response, put on speakerphone, Torres said that the budget would only allow the summoning of 535 agents already approved in 2021 for PF and PRF.

During this Tuesday’s speech, Bolsonaro did not explain how it will be possible to increase this number indicated by the Minister of Justice. The measure still needs to be published in the “Official Journal of the Union”.

PLN 1/2022, approved by the National Congress, adds R$ 2.57 billion to this year’s Union Budget. Of this amount, R$ 1.7 billion will be used for government personnel expenses. The Ministry of Defense was the main beneficiary, receiving R$ 986.28 million. The Ministry of Justice and Public Security received R$ 59.1 million.

Bolsonaro has been pressured by public security servants. Last Thursday (28), the National Association of Federal Police Delegates (ADPF) held demonstrations across the country against what it called a “clear omission” by the Federal Government.

The category is against being included in a 5% linear adjustment for all federal civil servants. The amount is considered insufficient by the corporation’s agents, who were also waiting for a broader career restructuring. In this meeting with supporters, the president did not address the readjustment of federal servants.
