President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) announced, this Thursday (16), a reduction in import taxes for video games and console accessories. The measure takes effect from July 1 of this year, according to the president.
On imports of parts and accessories for consoles and video game machines, the rate will go from 16% to 12%, while for video games with built-in screens (portable or not), the rate, currently 16%, will be zero.
Bolsonaro highlighted that, in August 2021, these products also had the IPI rate reduced. “Today, the federal government announces a new reduction in import taxes, this time, in yet another round of video games, consoles, and their accessories,” he declared.
In a note, the Ministry of Economy said that “it will manifest itself when the formal procedures related to the meeting of the Executive Management Committee of Camex are closed”.
