Bolsonaro opens Brazilian embassy in Bahrain

President Jair Bolsonaro (no party) inaugurated this Tuesday (16), in Manama, the Brazilian embassy in Bahrain.

It is the first time that a Brazilian head of state has visited the Middle East country.

“This approach (with Bahrain) is from the heart,” declared Bolsonaro during the inauguration of the embassy.

Brazil and Bahrain had diplomatic relations since 1971, but Brazilian interests were represented by the embassy in Kuwait.

Currently, among the nations of the Middle East, the country ranks fourth in commercial transactions with Brazil.

The creation of the embassy was defined in a decree signed by President Jair Bolsonaro. Still in the opening speech, Bolsonaro said that there is great room for the expansion of business between Brazil and Bahrain.

Bolsonaro also met the King of Bahrain, Hamad Isa Bin Kalifa.

Bolsonaro visited Bahrain after spending three days in the UAE.
