Bolsonaro participates in the September 7 parade in Brasilia

President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) participates on the morning of this Wednesday, September 7, in the civic parades in Brasília. Accompanied by the first lady, Michelle Bolsonaro, and children, the President of the Republic paraded in an open car and walked alongside supporters, security guards and Bolsonarista businessmen.

With reinforced security, the celebrations of the Bicentennial of Independence by Brazil will have parades in at least 25 capitals.

To reinforce security in the vicinity of the Ministry of Justice, the National Public Security Force was activated.

Bolsonaro left the Palácio da Alvorada in the open car, crossed the Esplanada dos Ministérios and positioned himself on stage next to the vice president, Hamiltom Mourão, his children, the first lady, supporters and ministers.

On September 7 of last year, Bolsonaro also paraded in an open car – at the time, the driver was former Formula 1 driver and government supporter, Nelson Piquet. In 2021, the first lady did not parade in an open car next to the president.

The president of the National Congress and the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD), has decided that he will not attend the event. The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP), should also not go to the parade, focusing on the electoral campaign in Alagoas.

The reinforcement of security in the central region of Brasilia is not only due to the official celebrations of Independence Day, whose main activity is the civic-military parade on the Esplanada dos Ministérios.

The biggest concern is with the possibility of demonstrations or conflicts that generate violence.
