The President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro (PL), edited a decree expressing agreement for the renewal of the sound and image broadcasting concession of Globo, Bandeirantes and Record for another 15 years.
After the ordinance, the grants go to the National Congress, where they also need to be approved. The decree must still be published in the Official Gazette (DOU) early this Wednesday (21).
According to the Ministry of Communications, a series of requirements must be met for broadcasters to obtain renewal. “In this sense, the technical area and the Legal Consultancy of the Ministry of Communications were favorable to the renewals of the grants”, said the portfolio, after analyzing the documents of the broadcasters.
Despite the president’s agreement, renewal requests must go through congressional approval. Last week, Bolsonaro also signed a decree to renew the concession of SBT and other affiliated stations, which still need to be analyzed by parliamentarians.
