Bolsonaro replaces director general of the Federal Police

President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) changed the command of the Federal Police this Friday (25). The current director general of the PF, Paulo Maiurino, was dismissed from his post today.

Márcio Nunes de Oliveira, who was the PF regional superintendent in the Federal District, assumes the position. Nunes de Oliveira has held the position since May 2018 and is expected to assume the PF general directorate in April.

Maiurino’s dismissal took even police officers who worked in high-ranking positions in the PF and deputies allied to the Bolsonaro government by surprise.

Government sources reported to the CNN that Maiurino can be transferred to the National Secretariat for Drug Policies of the Ministry of Justice. He was the third director general of the PF in the Jair Bolsonaro government and was a choice of the president.

Among the highlights of his career is the fact that he participated in the investigation of the so-called “mensalão mineiro”, which investigated slush funds in the reelection campaign of the toucan Eduardo Azeredo (PSDB) to the government of Minas Gerais.

Before Maiurino, the PF general directors in the current government were delegates Maurício Valeixo, who left the corporation in the episode that led to Minister Sergio Moro’s resignation, and Rolando Alexandre, Bolsonaro’s second option after Alexandre Ramagem was barred. by the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
