Bolsonaro says he will not adhere to sanctions against Russia

President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) spoke for the first time about the phone call he had with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, last Monday (18).

Bolsonaro said that Brazil will remain in a position of balance and stressed that the Ukrainian leader, in his opinion, spoke in a “very emotional” tone.

When asked about the possibility of carrying out sanctions against Russia, the president rejected the idea. “We are not going to adhere to these economic sanctions, we remain in balance,” Bolsonaro said.

The Brazilian leader returned to regret the war, and also commented that Brazil’s relationship with Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin, “is at 10”.

The president took the opportunity to indicate the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), one of the points of origin of the conflict, as the correct body to resolve the war. “NATO is the right place to seek to resolve this conflict,” Bolsonaro said.
