The report of the British page states that this is an international soccer player, close to 30 years old, who plays in the Premier League and is in custody as he is being investigated for his involvement in a rape case that happened last month.
Scotland Yard confirmed that the young footballer has been taken into custody, while the 20-year-old’s club is aware that the player is being questioned, but has yet to comment.
“On July 4, an allegation of the rape of a woman in her 20s was reported to police,” the Met Police said in a statement. “The alleged rape was reported to have occurred in June 2022.”
Police said the man was arrested “at an address in Barnet (London) on suspicion of rape and taken into custody where he remains”.
The player is of international fame and it is not clear whether he will be in his club’s preparation. The Premier League season starts on August 5 and the player is also set to play in the World Cup in Qatar in Novemberwhile his name is not published by the British Media for legal reasons.
