Norway's parliament received a bomb threat today and police stepped up security around the building, blocking off surrounding streets. Attendees of public hearings watching the debates inside the building were asked to leave while members of parliament continued their work as normal, including ministerial question time, a parliament spokesman said. A police spokesman said: “We are on site with several patrols in order to secure Parliament and prevent any incidents. We have no information so far about the existence of a threat to third parties.” Armed police in anti-protest gear set up metal bars to block access to the building, which is located in central Oslo, where security measures are usually more discreet. In Norway, police officers do not usually carry guns.
