The science fiction book “nothing more will be as before” by Miguel Nicolelis will be adapted to the cinema, with the forecast of launch in 2027. The project is a partnership between the neuroscientist and filmmaker Iara Cardoso, the CNN had access to production information firsthand.

The feature film stands out for being the first Brazilian movie of ‘Hard Science Fiction’, a subgenre that combines fictional narrative with scientific basis, and promises to boost national audiovisual.

The script is signed by Iara, who also takes over, marking his debut in the fictional genre, while Nicolelis will provide scientific consultancy.

The plot is inspired by the central concept of the literary work: where interconnected human brains of human brains are able to operate in a synchronized manner. This idea, proposed by Nicolelis, points to new forms of collaboration and collective decision making, raising ethical and social reflections on the direction of humanity.

In history, a mathematician and his neuroscientist niece must face an imminent cataclysmic threat, enhanced by the global environmental crisis and an international conspiracy that seeks to control minds and destinations.

The film, which will merge fiction and reality, will present a possible and hopeful future, with a cast that should gather big names in national cinema.

Miguel Nicolelis is considered one of the 20 most influential scientists in the world by “Scientific American”, as well as being a columnist for CNN . “As a child I am an avid reader of the science fiction of Julio Verne, Isaac Asimov, Arthur Clarke and Kurt Vonnegut. I always loved cinema, ”says Nicolelis

The duo reissues a previous partnership, established in the documentary series “The Age of Humans”. Written and directed by Cardoso, the production had Nicolelis among the interviewees and accumulated more than 23 international awards.
