The Prime Minister of Great Britain, Boris Johnson, recently expressed his disgust at the murderous attack on the famous writer Salman Rushdie today.
“I am appalled that Sir Salman Rushdie was stabbed while exercising a right which we must never stop defending. My thoughts are with his loved ones at this time. We hope they are all well,” Johnson wrote in a message to Twitter.
The 75-year-old author was attacked as he prepared to deliver a speech at an event in New York. A man rushed the scene and stabbed him in the neck.
The perpetrator was stopped by a police officer and arrested.
Salman Rushdie has been airlifted to hospital where he is undergoing surgery, according to the latest update.
