“I am appalled that Sir Salman Rushdie was stabbed while exercising a right which we must never stop defending. My thoughts are with his loved ones at this time. We hope they are all well,” Johnson wrote in a message to Twitter.
The 75-year-old author was attacked as he prepared to deliver a speech at an event in New York. A man rushed the scene and stabbed him in the neck.
