The British Prime Minister is said to be facing a motion of censure, Boris Johnson who if he loses the vote of confidence in parliament he is expected to step down as prime minister and be replaced.
Conservative rebels are awaiting a statement this morning, according to the ITV director.
“Tory rebels expect Sir Graham Brady to make an announcement this morning, announcing that there will be motion of censure for Boris Johnson “, noted Paul Bradt in a post on Twitter.
“Only Brady knows the exact details, but that’s so certain (…),” he added.
At least 54 members of the Conservatives in parliament, according to the Athens News Agency, are required to formally ask Brady, who is chairman of the party’s 1922 Commission, to file a motion of censure against the prime minister so that this can be done.
The letters are confidential, so only the chairman of this committee knows how many have actually requested this.
“I do think it’s possible, but I do not know,” Health Minister Sajid Javid told Sky News when asked if Johnson could face a motion of censure from disgruntled lawmakers in his party.
However, Javid added that the country does not need a challenge to the prime minister now.
