British Prime Minister Boris Johnson expressed his disgust at the murderous attack which the famous writer Salman Rushdie received today.
“I feel disgusted that Sir Salman Rushdie was stabbed while exercising a right which we must never stop defending. My thoughts are with his loved ones at this time. We hope everyone is well“, wrote o Johnson in a message on Twitter.
The 75-year-old author was attacked as he prepared to deliver a speech at an event in New York. A man rushed the scene and stabbed him in the neck.
The perpetrator was stopped by a police officer and arrested.
Salman Rushdie has been airlifted to hospital where he is undergoing surgery, according to the latest update.
