EU High Representative Josep Borrell is heading to Washington on February 7th and 8th with the energy issue at the top of the agenda.
On February 7, Borrell will hold a bilateral meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to discuss urgent issues on the international agenda and reaffirm the strength of the transatlantic partnership at a critical juncture in world diplomacy.
The High Representative will then co-chair the EU-US Energy Council on behalf of EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simpson, along with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm.
The EU-US Energy Council will be crucial to promoting energy security cooperation and common commitment to accelerate a fair and clean energy transition to climate neutrality for citizens of the EU, the United States and the world. The event comes at a pivotal time to tackle energy supply to tackle gas availability and volatile prices.
On February 8, Josep Borrell will speak at the inaugural event of the Jean Monnet Conversations series, co-organized by the EU Delegation, the French Embassy and The Atlantic.
Finally, he is also expected to meet with members of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
