EU High Representative Josep Borrell is in Nicosia, where he met with the President of the Republic of Cyprus. Nikos Anastasiadis and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulidis.
It was preceded by a meeting Josep Borrell with the UN Special Representative in Cyprus Elizabeth Spehar, as broadcast by AMPE.
In a post on his Twitter account, Josep Borrell states: “I started my mission in Cyprus with information from the United Nations. “United Nations work on the ground is vital to building trust.”
He also noted that “the forthcoming UN + 5 + 1 informal talks provide an opportunity for an urgently needed resumption of talks”, stressing that “the EU is strongly committed to supporting these efforts”.
