NATO is not an a la carte military alliance that operates according to the mood of the US president, the EU High Representative pointed out. Joseph Borel, attending the informal council of development ministers in Brussels.
“Let me be sarcastic. We will hear a lot during this campaign. Let's be serious. NATO cannot be an a la carte military alliance. It cannot be an alliance that operates according to the mood of the US president on those days,” Mr Borrell said.
As he pointed out, the NATO “it can't be today yes and tomorrow no, it depends on who you are. Let's be serious. NATO either exists or it doesn't. I'm not going to spend my time commenting on every stupid idea that comes up in this US election campaign.”
