A Ukrainian official said Wednesday that 25 women and girls from Butsa had been raped by Russian military men.
Lyudmila Denisova, the Ukrainian parliament’s human rights commissioner, said at least 25 complaints had been made to a hotline by women and girls aged 14 to 24 about rape.
He further added that Ukraine has evidence of “genocide of the Ukrainian people” and other war crimes, adding that rape is “the new weapon” of Russian forces.
“This has been happening for a whole month. We will continue to record these horrific crimes, unfortunately every criminal will be punished.”
Russia’s official position is that no crime was committed by its forces in Butsa.
