Bouygues suffered losses in the first quarter

Bouygues suffered losses in the first quarter, although sales increased, as did the outstanding balance on construction and services.

The French construction and media group said net losses in the quarter to the end of March stood at 131m euros, up from a net profit of 21m euros a year ago.

In contrast to 2022, the net profit for the first quarter of 2021 included an amount of 120 million euros, a contribution from Alstom.

Sales rose 6% to 8.20 billion euros.

The French company stressed that the operating losses amounted to 93 million euros, including charges related to the planned acquisition of Equans and the proposed merger of TF1 and M6 channels, and others related to the projects of Bouygues Construction and Tf1.

The outstanding balance in construction and service activities at the end of March, increased by 4% to 34.6 billion euros, a high level which provides good visibility for future activity.

The company maintained its estimates for 2022, including a further increase in sales and current operating profit compared to 2021.
