Boy born without a hand gets Iron Man’s bionic arm

Seven-year-old Louie Morgan-Kemp had just started a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for a bionic arm when he was surprised by good news: a man decided to donate the full value of his prosthesis, valued at around R$80,000.

Born with a malformation, the boy from Cambridgeshire, a county in England, received a gift from a 73-year-old businessman who was touched by the news https://www.cnnbrasil.com.br/tudo-sobre/cnn-good- news/iança.

In a interview with the British newspaper Daily MailHannah Morgan, Louie’s mother, said that the boy had been waiting for this arm for a long time and that now he can do “normal” things like holding a bag of chips or drinking lemonade holding his own glass.

This is just one of several topics on the CNN Good News episode that airs this Friday (01), at 8 pm, on the CNN Pop YouTube channel – a compilation of all the best things that happened during the week in Brazil and in the world.

Have scientists discovered the fountain of youth?

It seems that hyaluronic acid, a well-known component of anti-aging creams and beauty products, may be the way to the fountain of eternal youth.

At least that’s what a study published in the renowned journal Nature says.

According to the report, the increase in the acid concentration in genetically modified rodents caused a lower incidence of cancer, and even the prolongation of the animal’s useful life by almost 5%.

The tendency is for studies like this to evolve towards application in humans.

BBB dos Dogs

Gabriel Chaves, 31, led a “normal” life until he decided to rescue animals for the first time in early 2020.

Since then, his house has become a shelter, and his life has turned “inside out”.

With more than 160,000 followers on the Instagram profile @acasadoviralata, the animal protector took advantage of the format of the biggest reality show in Brazil, the BBB, to encourage the adoption of dogs and cats.

Over there, everything is filmed day and night, and the prize is to be eliminated as quickly as possible. Like the idea? Gabriel tells more in the new episode of CNN Good News.

Partnership with AdoteViCa

With each CNN Good News program, dogs available for adoption from AdoteViCa are present in the studio.

In 2017, unhappy with the sale of puppies in a pet shop franchise they had bought, the couple Amanda Senna and Marcos Vieira da Cunha decided to transform the business structure into an adoption point.

Since then, maintaining the normal offer of petshop services, they have already changed the lives of more than six thousand animals and families who chose to adopt them. Most of the cats and dogs arrive at ViCa through a partnership with Recanto Bicho Feliz, an NGO that brings together animals rescued from abandonment or risk situations.

The Instagram page, filled with the pets and their stories and also with portraits of the new families of each one, already has almost 190,000 followers – including some famous ones. Chefs Paola Carosella and Bela Gil are examples of personalities who passed through the adoption center and took new family members home.

How to adopt?

In addition to wanting to have a partner for life and, of course, responsibility to take care of him for many years, Adopt ViCa has some rules.

To take an animal home, the adoption center requires the person to be over 18 years of age, and to bring their RG and proof of residence when adopting.

The ViCa adoption center is located at Rua Pamplona, 1481, in the Jardins district of São Paulo. Open from Monday to Friday, from 8.30 am to 8 pm, and on Saturdays, from 9 am to 6 pm.
