Two families had their children exchanged in a hospital after birth, only to discover three years later that their children belonged to other parents. The case took place at the Women’s Hospital, in Inhumas, in the Metropolitan region of Goiânia (GO).
At a press conference, one of the mothers said that the suspicion began with her partner, who, in the midst of a crisis between the couple, asked for a DNA test on the child. In return, the woman said she would take the test too, because if the child wasn’t his, it wouldn’t be hers either. Watch:
The laboratory returned to the woman approximately five days after the examination with the news that her son’s DNA was not compatible with her own. After returning from the unit, a new analysis was carried out and the report showed once again that the boy was not her son.
The Goiás Civil Police stated that they are investigating the possible crime to clarify the facts and that those involved have already been interviewed.
The hospital also commented in a statement and said that it is cooperating with the investigations, sending all the necessary documents. Furthermore, the unit highlights the sensitivity of the incident and says it treats the episode with “due importance”, investigating the error.
