The city of Brasília completed 100 days without rain this Thursday (1). According to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), there are no signs of rain for next week in the Federal District. The capital’s record is 164 days.
The institute classified the Federal District as a yellow alert, which means that relative humidity varies between 20% and 30%. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the ideal level for human health is between 50% and 60%.
The drought situation is expected to remain in Brasília until at least September. In addition to dry skin and mucous membranes, low humidity can increase allergic attacks and the risk of disease transmission.
In these cases, Inmet recommends drinking more water and avoiding physical exercise during the driest hours and exposure to the sun during the hottest hours.
The Brazilian capital has also been suffering from high temperature variations. For the next few weeks, the minimum temperature will be around 15ºC, and the maximum, 27ºC.
