A new statue of Jesus Christ, taller than the one in Rio de Janeiro, is currently being built in Brazil, states the BBC.
His statue Christ the Protector is located in the city of Encandado and its height will reach 43 meters, along with its base. The head and outstretched arms of the statue were placed about 10 days ago. Work began in 2019 and the idea came from a local politician, Adraldo Konzati, who recently died of a coronavirus while the cost exceeded 350,000 euros.
According to the architects behind the construction of the statue, the project, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year, is funded by donations from both individuals and companies.
The operation of the indoor elevator is currently being studied, which will transport visitors to a large and impressive observatory located at the height of the statue’s chest.
His emblematic statue Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro has a height of 38 meters.
