The Ministry of Health released this Tuesday (20) an update on dengue cases in Brazil. According to the Arbovirus Monitoring Panel, the country registered 688,461 probable cases of dengue, with 122 confirmed deaths from the disease.
The ministry is also investigating whether another 456 deaths are related to dengue.
According to the ministry, 55% of probable cases are women and the most affected age group continues to be adults between 30 and 39 years old.
Among men, there are already 61,032 diagnoses and 73,424 cases among women in this age group.
In total, the incidence rate of the disease is 339 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants. In this same period in 2023, Brazil registered 165,839 cases of dengue, a difference of just over 315% compared to 2024.
Minas Gerais continues as the state with the most cases, with 232,683 probable cases, followed by São Paulo (117,571), Distrito Federal (80,979), Paraná (72,526), Rio de Janeiro (51,532), Goiás (42,407) and Espírito Santo ( 21,356).

All of these states, according to the Ministry's assessment, are at the maximum level of attention to the disease, which happens when a state has more than 500 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants.
With 17,125 probable cases and an incidence of 225 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the government of Santa Catarina announced, through the state Department of Health, that it should publish an emergency decree due to dengue on Thursday (22). “We are opting, therefore, for an emergency decree. Because it is necessary for us to further expand, if necessary, the provision of services”, said the state’s health secretary, Carmem Zanotto.
