Brazil: At least three dead from the cyclone that hit the southern part of the country

Three dead and at least 12 missing are his tally so far cyclone which hit the state of Rio Grande do Sul in the south yesterday Friday Brazil.

Two people died in the city of São Leopoldo. A 23-year-old man was killed by an electric shock, while a driver whose car was swept away by a torrent was found dead. One death related to the severe weather was reported in the city of Makini.

A state of emergency has been declared in Porto Alegre, the capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Serious problems have been caused to the road network due to floods and landslides, dozens of flights have been canceled, while more than 250,000 households have been left without electricity.

Significant damage was also caused to communities in the neighboring state of Santa Catarina, where many residents were forced to leave their homes.
