In 2021, Brazil reached the record number of companies opened in a single year: almost four million were opened over the 12 months. A growth of almost 20% compared to 2020. The numbers were published in the Business Map Bulletin, prepared by the Ministry of Economy.
The Ministry’s Special Secretary for Debureaucratization, Management and Digital Government, Caio Mario Paes de Andrade highlights that the numbers are a positive portrait of the reductions in bureaucracy, especially due to the digital universe.
“The reflection of this work is a more dynamic, simplified and promising business environment for Brazilian entrepreneurs to succeed in their ventures”, he evaluates.
In general, all the federative units had growth in the data referring to new businesses. The biggest contribution came in the North region, with Amapá. Alone, the state represented an increase of 40%, with 8,851 new companies.
More than the unique level reached in the country, opening a company was also faster in this period. Currently, in most Brazilian states, the opening processes take less than two days to complete.
In the balance between openings and closings of companies, the federal government recorded a positive balance of 2.6 million opened businesses. This is also the highest number ever recorded. As a result, the domestic market ended the year with more than 18.9 million active projects.
