Brazil completes 10 days with moving average above 800 deaths

Brazil recorded 131,049 cases of Covid-19 and 1,128 deaths from the disease in the last 24 hours. The data were released by the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass) this Thursday (17).

With this, the country reached the moving average of 841 deaths from Covid-19 – and completed 10 days above the 800 mark.

The moving average of cases fell for the seventh day in a row, reaching the mark of 116,905.

Moving averages consider the averages of the last seven days and are used to avoid distortions caused by underreporting on weekends.

In all, since the beginning of the pandemic, the country has accumulated 27,937,835 cases and 641,902 deaths from Covid-19.

The executive secretary of the Ministry of Health, Rodrigo Cruz, told CNN that vaccinating children aged five to eleven with the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine will be completed by the end of next month. The folder also reported that the entire amount intended for the first dose has already reached the states. This Thursday, the Butantan Institute sent ten million doses of Coronavac to Health, to be used as a second dose, and offered 20 million doses. Read more.

Child vaccination against Covid-19 is suspended in the capital of Rio de Janeiro as of this Thursday (17), due to lack of doses, according to information released early Wednesday night (16) by the Municipal Health Department of Rio de Janeiro.
