Brazil condemns Israeli attack on Rafah

This Monday (6), Itamaraty released a statement condemning the start of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) operation against the city of Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip.

According to the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “by choosing, with this military action, to deliberately intensify the conflict in an area known to have a high concentration of the civilian population in Gaza at this time, the Israeli government shows, once again, disregard for compliance with the principles basic human rights and humanitarian law, despite calls from the international community, including its closest allies.”

The statement also says that “Brazil reiterates to the global governance bodies responsible for preserving world peace and security, in particular the United Nations Security Council, the request that the indifference and immobility that have allowed the deepening of the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip”.
