Brazil surpassed 1.2 million cases of dengue this Monday (4), two days after the 'D-Day of Mobilization Against Dengue', which took place in all states and the Federal District.
The number only represents cases recorded from 2024 onwards. In total, there are 1,212,263 cases as of today afternoon, slightly less than the total number of cases of the disease throughout 2023, which was 1.6 million .
In addition to the high incidence of contamination, the number of deaths is also significant. There are 278 deaths from dengue confirmed so far and at least 744 are under investigation to find out whether there is a relationship with the disease.
However, when looking at the curve of probable cases, it is clear that there was a drop between the 8th and 9th week of the year. While last week the number of cases reached 204,305, this week 72,470 diagnoses were recorded.
Despite the slowdown in dengue contagion, it is still a warning, as the line remains above average.

On the map of Brazil, the Southeast region has the highest concentration of cases along with Goiás, Paraná, Acre and Santa Catarina. The Federal District leads the incidence rate and Minas Gerais is the state with the highest number of probable cases, 407,977.
