Brazil has 15 awarded cheeses at the World Cheese Awards 2022

On the 3rd, one of the world’s main cheese awards took place, the World Cheese Awards in Wales.

In its 34th edition, the competition had 4,434 entries from 42 countries and 900 companies from around the world who were evaluated in the following categories: aspects such as the appearance of the rind and paste, aroma, body and texture of the cheese, with the most points attributed to flavor and mouthfeel.

Brazil was present with 15 cheeses that won bronze, silver, gold and even super gold medals. The great champion, for the fourth time, was cheese Le Gruyere AOP made from unpasteurized milk that bears the name of the Swiss designation of origin Gruyère.

The highlights were the cheese Full moon of Serra das Antas , by Bueno Brandão (MG), who won the super gold medal. Creamy and covered with a thin layer of charcoal, it is matured for three weeks.

And also with another Brazilian who won super gold: cheese Morro Azul gives Pomerode Foods , produced in Pomerode (SC), made with cow’s milk and white mold. In addition to it, Vale do Testo, aged for six months, won silver, and Brebis de Pomerode, a sheep’s milk cheese, also won silver.

  • Legendary da Generosa – Generosa Farm, silver medal
  • Tulha da Toca – Atalaia Farm, silver medal
  • Quark Type Cheese – São João Dairy, silver medal
  • Testo Voucher 6 Months – Pomerode Alimentos, silver medal
  • Brebis de Pomerode – Pomerode Alimentos, silver medal
  • Type Gorgonzola Dolce – Serra das Antas, silver medal
  • Búfala Almeida Prado Burrata Cheese – Laticinio Bufala Almeida Prado, silver medal
  • Capim Mantiqueira Cheese – Paiolzinho dairy, bronze medal
  • Regente Tulha – Atalaia Farm, bronze medal
  • Caprinus – Atalaia Farm, bronze medal
  • Bueno, type Comté – Serra das Antas, bronze medal
