Brazil has 15 cheeses awarded at the World Cheese Awards 2022

On the 3rd, one of the main world cheese awards took place, the World Cheese Awards in Wales.

In its 34th edition, the competition had 4,434 entries from 42 countries and 900 companies from around the world who were evaluated in the following categories: aspects such as the appearance of the rind and paste, aroma, body and texture of the cheese, with the most points attributed to taste and mouthfeel.

Brazil was present with 15 cheeses that won bronze, silver, gold and even super gold medals. The great champion, for the fourth time, was cheese Le Gruyere AOP made from unpasteurized milk that takes its name from the French appellation of origin Gruyère.

The highlights were the cheese Full moon of Serra das Antas , from Bueno Brandão (MG), who won the super gold medal. Creamy and covered with a thin layer of charcoal, it is aged for three weeks.

Another Brazilian that won super gold was the cheese blue hill gives Pomerode Foods , produced in Pomerode (SC), made with cow’s milk and white mold. In addition to it, Vale do Testo, which matured for six months, received silver, and Brebis de Pomerode, a sheep’s milk cheese, also received silver.

• Capim Mantiqueira Cheese – Laticinios Paiolzinho, bronze medal
• Regent Tulha – Atalaia Farm, bronze medal
• Caprinus – Atalaia Farm, bronze medal
• Bueno, Comté type – Serra das Antas, bronze medal
