A total of 23 Brazilian cheeses were awarded at the World Cheese Awards 2023 the world’s main cheese event.
The 35th edition took place last Friday (27) in Trondheim, Norway, and broke a record for registrations: they were received 4,502 cheeses in 43 countries which were judged by a panel of 264 judges in 38 nations .
Brazil was highlighted in the cheese competition Blue Hill from Pomerode Alimentos, from Santa Catarina, which led to Super Gold medal for the second year in a row. The cheese is made with cow’s milk and white mold and has a creamy result.
Based in the city of Pomerode (SC), the company also won five other medals: the Vale do Testo 12 months and Vale do Testo 3 months cheeses were awarded Gold ; Tomme Vaudoise with Silver and Cheese 5 and Brebis de Pomerode with the Bronze .

It is worth noting that the current edition represents an increase in the number of Brazilian cheeses awarded at the World Cheese Awards compared to last year, when 15 national cheeses received Super Gold, Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.
No. 1 in the world
O Norwegian cheese Nidelven Blå was voted the best cheese in the world this year at the World Cheese Awards.
Produced by the cheese factory Gangstad Gårdsysteri, which has the third generation of the family running the farm in the Norwegian commune of Inderøy, the product is a semi-solid blue cheese made with pasteurized cow’s milk and aged for six and nine months.
