“Brazil has a historic opportunity with the disorganization of chains”, says Guedes

The Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, said during a panel at the Automotive Business Experience, which takes place at São Paulo Expo this Thursday (8), that it is necessary to strengthen the relationship with neighboring countries and that “it is not enough to be close”.

“You also have to be a friend. Brazil has a historic opportunity with the disorganization of global production chains to emerge as a country of great resources, as a digital, energy, environmental and food power”, he said.

In the lecture, entitled “Automotive Industry and Brazilian Mobility: The National Role in the Global Context”, the minister also said that the Brazilian industry “is not and will not be at risk.”

“We went through the biggest health crisis with a better performance than richer economies. I said: let’s go back in “V, because we are talking to entrepreneurs and creating programs like Pronampe”, she said.

For several representatives of the automotive sector, Guedes stated that he intends to bring the Tax on Industrialized Products (IPI) to zero.

“This was done by past governments thinking they were helping the Brazilian population, but they are destroying the industry,” he says.
