The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) informed, this Tuesday (4), that five maritime cruises are under sanitary supervision on the Brazilian coast with cases of Covid-19 among crew and passengers.
The companies decided to voluntarily suspend operations until January 21st. The Brazilian Association of Cruise Ships (CLIA) stated that “cruise industry protocols exceed most other industries and remain effective in mitigating the risk of Covid-19” and that the cases identified on ships “consist of a small minority of the total population on board”.
The measure comes after Anvisa recommends on December 31 “the temporary suspension of the cruise ship season, on a preventive basis, until there is more data available to assess the epidemiological scenario.”
