Brazil currently has more than one smartphone per inhabitant, according to an annual survey released by FGV. There are 242 million smart cell phones in use in the country, which has just over 214 million inhabitants, according to the IBGE.
The research shows that, when adding notebooks and tablets, there are a total of 352 million portable devices in Brazil, equivalent to 1.6 per person.
Smartphones are still the top sellers, according to the survey. The data show that 3 cell phones are sold per television.
“We have 447 million digital devices (computers, notebooks, tablets and smartphones) in use in Brazil (corporate and domestic), that is, more than 2 digital devices per inhabitant in June 2022. The smartphone dominates most uses, such as in banks, shopping and social media”, says the survey.
As for computers, the study points out that they will surpass the Brazilian population at the beginning of 2023, with 216 million in use by the beginning of the year.
Device sales in 2021 grew by 27%, with more than 14 million units sold. For 2022, the research estimates a growth close to 10%.
The FGV survey had a sample of 2,650 medium and large companies, portraying the current scenario and technology trends in the environment
