Brazil is among the countries that most use artificial intelligence

Research carried out by Ipsos and Google with 21 thousand people in 21 countries showed that in 2024 Brazil was above the global average in the use of artificial intelligence (AI), with 54% of Brazilians reporting that they used generative AI while the global average was in 48%. Generative AI is what creates content such as images, music and texts.

According to the study “Our Life with AI: From innovation to application”optimism regarding the potential of AI increases as it demonstrates its benefits. For 65% of Brazilians, this technology is promising as it contributes to different areas of life. The world average for the optimism item is 57%.

At least 60% of Brazilians believe that AI brings a greater expectation of earnings, predicting an increase in jobs. This same view is shared by 49% of respondents globally. The percentage of Brazilians who trust changes in the job market caused by AI grew from 62% to 68% in one year. In 2023, 20% of Brazilian workers who were impacted by the use of AI in the job market believed they needed a new job. In 2024, that number dropped to 15%.

The survey indicates that Brazilians see AI as a transformative force in several sectors, with emphasis on science (80%), medicine (77%), agriculture (74%) and cybersecurity (67%). Already 64% of the Brazilian population believes that the benefits of innovation, whether in science or medicine, outweigh the risks of advances in AI.

For the president of Google Brazil, Fábio Coelho, it is inspiring to see Brazilians’ optimism and enthusiasm regarding generative AI. “The survey results demonstrate Brazilians’ confidence in the potential of AI to generate positive impacts in work, education and everyday life. Google is committed to supporting this journey, offering tools and resources that help Brazilians from all areas to prosper in this new era”, he states.

The areas that make everyday life easier are enthusiastically highlighted by those interviewed in Brazil. The highlights are the search for information online (81%), personal assistance (76%) and support for studies (74%). Furthermore, there is a consensus on the importance of tools such as writing assistants (85%) and translators (89%). Three out of every four Brazilians interviewed (78%) say they use AI at work and 88% of those interviewed consider the use of AI essential to deal with complex information and find innovative solutions to business challenges.
