Brazil is the fifth country in the world ranking of inflation perception, says Ipsos

A survey by Ipsos shows that 73% of Brazilians claim to have felt an increase in the cost of living in the last six months. Brazil appears in fifth place in the ranking of countries with the worst perceptions of inflation worldwide.

The survey was conducted in 30 countries, and surveyed 20,504 adults aged between 16 and 74. Respondents took into account spending on transportation, housing, food, clothing, health, entertainment and household expenses, such as water, gas and energy, for example.

Brazilians have the perception that it is necessary to spend more money for the same products and services than six months ago. This share of respondents is 14 points higher than the global average of 59%.

In addition to Argentina, which is first in the ranking, only Colombia and Turkey, both with 75%, and Russia, with 74%, recorded higher rates than Brazil.

For Brazilians, the main villain in the budget was transportation, which, according to 80% of respondents, has increased significantly in the last six months. For 79% of the people interviewed by the survey, another category that weighed the most on the budget was food costs. Housing expenses, which represent bills such as water, electricity, gas and energy, were cited by 78% of respondents.

In the ranking of entertainment expenditures, Brazil ranked second, with 69% of respondents in the country pointing out that leisure costs increased in six months. Only Argentines surpassed this mark, with 74%.

The rates are well above the global average of 49% and the countries that recorded the lowest rates: Japan (15%), Malaysia (28%) and China (32%).

According to IPSOS, two-thirds of respondents from all countries included in the survey said the prices they now pay for transportation (70%), food and drink (70%) and utilities (66%) are higher than they are. it was six months ago.
