Brazil opens 328,500 formal job vacancies in February

Brazil opened 328,500 formal job vacancies in February, according to the Caged (General Register of Employed and Unemployed), released this Tuesday (29) by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

The number is the result of 2,013,143 new hires and 1,684,636 layoffs.

Despite being the best monthly result since September 2021, the balance is 17.3% lower than that recorded in February last year.

In the month, the average admission salary was BRL 1,878.66, lower than the BRL 1,926.36 in the same month of 2021.

In the first two months of the year, Brazil has created 478,862 new formal jobs. The number represents a decrease of 26.5% compared to the same period in 2021 and an increase of 45.4% when compared to the first two months of 2020.

Between January and February, four of the five sectors of economic activity registered job creation, with the exception of trade, which closed 50,267 jobs. The service sector led with the opening of 316,936 jobs.

Then, the activities of Industry, Construction and Agriculture created, respectively, 94,789, 75,615 and 41,792 formal vacancies in the two-month period.
