Brazil opens markets for beef, dairy products and genetic material

Brazil will start exporting beef, dairy products and poultry and bovine genetic material to new countries.

Eight markets for Brazilian agricultural products were opened in December, according to information supplied by the Ministry of Agriculture’s Secretariat for Trade and International Relations.

The most recent was the possibility of exporting bovine fibroblasts for cloning purposes from Brazil to Argentina, which was formalized last Thursday (30) with the acceptance of phytosanitary protocols by both countries.

At the end of December, Cuba released the entry of embryo and bovine semen from Brazil. Malaysia allowed the importation of Brazilian beef and offal of beef origin from the country.

To Colombia, Brazil obtained the guarantee to export meat and bone meal and beef tallow. Mexico authorized the sale of Brazilian dairy products, and Uganda and Jordan, of poultry genetic material from Brazil.

In 2021, the portfolio totaled 77 market opening actions, which means the possibility of marketing a new product by commercial partner.

In November, markets in Uganda and Jordan were opened. In October, 12 trade opening actions were reported, ten of them involving the possibility of exporting seeds to Egypt.

In September, another eight markets were opened for Brazilian products, including live cattle, fertile eggs and day-old chicks, poultry and cattle genetic material, animal meal, animal feed products and ginger.

In August, the openings involved fish, seeds and genetic material.

In July, new markets were opened for melon, Arabica coffee and coconut seeds from Brazil. In June, the highlight was the release of beef and bovine genetic material to Yemen.

In May, permits involved apples and sesame. In April, the openings involved live cattle, fertile eggs and coconut seedlings.

In March, the country obtained permission to export fresh eggs, animal genetic material, fruits and animal feed items to new countries.

In February, the highlight was the opening for the animal protein sector, with authorization to export live cattle, bovine genetic material and pork meat and derivatives to Cambodia. And in January, the highlights were permission to export sheep meat and bovine giblets.
