Brazil passes 4 million cases of dengue in 2024

Brazil reached 4 million cases of dengue in 2024 alone. In total, there are 4,127,571 cases, according to the Ministry of Health's Arbovirus Panel, updated this Monday (29).

The year 2024 is also the year that recorded the most deaths in the entire historical monitoring series – see below. To date, 1,888 deaths have been recorded.

As for the deaths under investigation, which it is not yet known for sure whether they were caused by the disease, the panel indicates 2,345 cases.

The fatality rates in probable cases and serious cases have not changed since the last update, the first remains at 0.05 and the second at 4.50.

What also did not change was the higher incidence of probable cases among women. Females represent 55.1%, while men follow with 44.9%. People between 20 and 29 years old represent the highest rate of contamination.
