The President of Brazil Zaix Bolsonarou will be fined for colluding with a crowd of other people, without wearing a mask, amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Governor Maranyao said.
Maranhοo’s health authorities have fined the president “who provoked rallies without the slightest precaution”, left-wing governor Flavio Dino explained in a Twitter post.
“The law is the same for everyone,” he added, adding that gatherings of more than 100 people are prohibited in the state and the use of a mask is mandatory.
His explanations are awaited to decide the amount of the fine
The exact amount of the fine will be determined after Bolsonaru presents his counter-arguments, as he has the right to do within 15 days. The law stipulates that the fine can range from 2,000 to 2.5 million reais (from 300 to 230,000 euros).

On Friday, Bolsonaro took part in a property award ceremony for farmers in Asialand, 500 kilometers from Sao Luis, the capital of Maranh .o. In this impoverished state, the first cases of the Indian variant of the new coronavirus in Brazil were detected on Thursday: there were six sailors who arrived there on a merchant ship flying the flag of Hong Kong.
In videos posted on the president’s official Twitter account, Bolsonaro, without a mask, is surrounded by a crowd of people. In his speech, the far-right president then described Flavio Dino as a “stubborn dictator”, comparing him to Kim Jong Un, but making a mistake in the country: “In South Korea (instead of North), the dictator does not is a chubby? And in Venezuela, isn’t he a fat man, the dictator? “And who is the stocky dictator here in Maraniao?” He told the crowd.

Absolutely rejecting the idea of any lockdown, Bolsonaru has already repeatedly called “rulers” the rulers who took restrictive measures to stop the spread of the new coronavirus. More than 440,000 people have died in Brazil due to the pandemic.
