Brazil records 161 deaths and more than 26 thousand cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours

Brazil recorded 161 deaths and 26,007 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, according to an update from the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass), held this Saturday (23). With the number, the country reaches 676,927 deaths and 33,581,533 cases.

Data from Acre, Distrito Federal, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, Roraima and Tocantins were not collected due to technical problems in accessing the databases of the information system of the federative units.

The moving average of cases for the last seven days was 41,610. The average number of deaths was 233 deaths.

The numbers of positive cases in rapid tests for coronavirus fell again for the second week in a row in July, according to data released on Thursday (21), by the Brazilian Association of Pharmacy and Drugstore Chains (Abrafarma).

The total of positives between July 11th and 17th was 37,149, representing a 30% drop in relation to the previous week. Demand for tests dropped by 27% over the same period, with pharmacies performing 118,577 diagnoses.

So far, July has added 90,038 positive results, totaling 32.08% of the people served. However, the sector expects a drop in the numbers, comparing with the daily average of cases of the previous month, of 11,645, against 5,296 this month.
