Brazil records more than 250 deaths from dengue in 2024

Brazil registered 1,038,475 probable cases of dengue and 258 deaths from the virus this Friday (1st), according to data from the Ministry of Health's Arbovirus Panel.

The country also has 651 deaths under investigation (if they are related to dengue), a number that may vary during the days once the analyzes are carried out.

Regarding the incidence rate of the disease per 100 thousand inhabitants, the number is 511.4. The most affected age group, for both women and men, continues to be 30 to 39 years old, with 111,302 and 91,229 cases, respectively.

According to the folder, the percentage of people possibly infected is approximately 55% for women, while for men the number is around 44%.

With the highest number of cases, Minas Gerais leads among the states, with 362,624 records. In sequence, São Paulo (178,151), Federal District (102,757), Paraná (101,296), Rio de Janeiro (80,800), Goiás (61,611) and Espírito Santo (40,171) stand out.

Historical trends of dengue fever in Brazil indicate that the peak of disease epidemics in the country usually occur between the months of March and April, going against the current situation.

Day D

Considering the significant increase in the number of cases, this Saturday (2) is D-Day to combat dengue in Brazil, with the theme “10 minutes against dengue”. The mobilization was announced last Tuesday (27) by the Ministry of Health and will reinforce actions to prevent and eliminate outbreaks of Aedes aegypti, the mosquito that transmits the virus.

Nísia Trindade, minister of health, will participate in the measure in the city of Serra, in Espírito Santo.
