Brazil records moving average of Covid cases 41% lower than peak in February

Brazil recorded 121,027 cases and 1,127 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The data were released by the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass) this Friday (18).

The moving average of cases is on the ninth straight day of decline, reaching 110,479 – 41% lower than the peak reached on February 03, when it was at 189,526.

The moving average of deaths was 840, with the 11th day above the 800 mark.

Moving average indices consider data from the last seven days and are used to avoid distortions due to underreporting on weekends.

With the new update, the country has a total of 28,058,862 cases and 643,029 victims of the disease since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.

Anvisa approves first self-test for Covid-19 in Brazil

The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) approved, this Thursday (17), the first self-test for Covid-19 in the country.

The product registered by Anvisa is the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) Autotest Antígeno, from the company CPMH Comércio e Indústria de Produtos Medicos-Hospitalares e Odontologicos. Read more.
