Brazil surpasses the US in part of the population fully vaccinated against Covid

This Wednesday (17th), Brazil surpassed the US in the percentage of the population fully vaccinated against Covid-19, according to data collected by CNN Agency. In all, 59.06% of Brazilians have completed immunization against the disease, against 58.9% in the US.

Despite a larger portion of the vaccinated population, Brazil still lags behind the North American country in absolute numbers of fully immunized people. There are 125,986,353 Brazilians with the complete vaccination cycle, against 195,612,365 people in the US, according to data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Brazil and the USA are the leading countries in Covid-19 deaths in the world. The disease has killed 195,612,365 Americans, while 47,244,379 people have been infected. In Brazil, there are 611,851 deaths and 21,977,661 confirmed infections, according to data from the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass).

This Wednesday, Brazil registered 373 deaths and 11,977 cases of Covid-19. The moving averages (considering the last week) of deaths and infections were 259 and 9,766, respectively.
