The Monthly Operation Program (PMO) bulletin of the National Electric System Operator (ONS) pointed out that the South, Southeast and Midwest regions will have the highest consumption of energy next week, March 12-18.
The forecast is that, throughout the month of March, the National Interconnected System (SIN) will have a 2% increase in energy load, compared to the same period in 2021.
This is because in March there was a rise in temperature across the country. According to the report, this fact caused an increase in energy consumption.
With the intensification of the use of refrigeration equipment, the South will present the greatest increase in load, with 3.5% and 13,476 average MW.
The Northeast follows, with 3.4% and 11,792 MW. For the Southeast, the expectation is 1.6% and 43,178 MW in March. Only the North will have a retraction in the month, with -1.4% and 5,759 average MW.
For the week of the 12th to the 18th, there should be an increase of rains in the south. In the other regions, the expectation is for stability in inflows.
However, in the analysis of the month, rainfall in the Southeast/Midwest and South subsystems will be below the historical average for the period.
The inflows in the North subsystem will reach 114%, in the Northeast the rate will be 124% and in the Southeast/Midwest, 74%. The inflows from the South will have an upward movement, with a forecast of reaching 70% of the historical average for the month of March.
With a projection of reaching 62.7% on March 31, the Southeast/Center-West reservoirs did not register this volume in the period since 2012. In the North, there was also no such high mark for the month since 2012, with 98, 8%.
The Northeast should reach 92.6% of capacity. The expectation of storage for the South is 35.7%.
“The good results of rebuilding the reservoirs are due to the rains and the operating strategies that have been adopted for more than a year, in addition to the synergy of work with other agents in the electricity sector”, says the bulletin.
