Brazil pledged to present to Paraguay the investigation report on alleged espionage actions that triggered a diplomatic crisis between countries.
Chancellers Mauro Vieira and Rubén Ramírez Lezcano met on Thursday (10) in Buenos Aires to deal with what happened.
In a statement issued on Friday (11), the Paraguayan Chancellery reported that “Vieira, highlighting historical ties and the strong relationship between the two countries, said his government is conducting a broad investigation to clarify the serious facts that occurred between June 2022 and March 2023”.
“After the relevant investigations, the Brazilian government will present the report requested by the Paraguayan authorities,” the text added.
Paraguay also reported that the two foreign ministers agreed on “redirecting bilateral ties” from countries.
Itamaraty also shared a statement about the meeting and said the chancelors “dealt with ways to advance the resolution of bilateral themes, such as negotiations on Annex C of the Itaipu Treaty, infrastructure works and security issues.”
“The ministers also discussed the ongoing findings in Brazil to clarify intelligence operation previously determined in relation to Paraguay, whose results will be communicated to the Paraguayan authorities as soon as they are made public,” concluded the Brazilian Chancellery.
