The president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), and the minister of the Environment, Joaquim Leite, participated in a panel at COP26, in Glasgow, this Tuesday (9). Officials spoke of the country’s progress in combating climate change.
In the Brazilian pavilion at the conference, Leite, the head of the Brazilian delegation, said that the country is presenting solutions for a new green economy with an incentive to entrepreneurship, while still defending national interests.
“We are managing to carry out important negotiations, defending national interests, especially in relation to climate finance,” stated Leite.
Pacheco said that, despite Brazil’s merits, the country needs to make a “mea-culpa” and recognize that illegal deforestation “alarms the world” and generates an “image crisis” for the nation before the international community.
